THE GOOD

We are all in one way or another fans of water!!! Especially when it flows (invited) into our homes & buildings. For washing, cleaning, bathing, refreshment, cooling or warming us, water has no peer. We can choose to conserve it and in so doing also lower the cost of using it. The benefits is more available water... more money to spend on other things. A true win/win situation.
THE BAD

Too much of a good thing... is a bad thing! If uninvited water invades your home through unsealed openings, leaky plumbing, overflowing downspouts or water vapor stealthily manifesting itself between walls bad things can happen. If assemblies are getting wet and not permitted to dry at 19% saturation wood begins to rot, mold and mildew can grow. Your home can become sick and introduce pollutants into the air through your ductwork that can make everyone sick. Too much water can become a major expense both in repairs and in health.
A good envelope design, correct air sealing practices and proper ventilation is the best option for you to get the full benefit from water serving your home...
